The Christmas Day birth story of Ada…..
I had the pleasure of meeting India at my pregnancy relaxation sessions. She started attending in September and continued coming until December. Right from week 1 India felt the benefits of the relaxation sessions and it was great to see. I was so excited to hear about the Christmas Day arrival of baby Ada. Here is their story…
I started feeling twinges on Christmas Eve at about 9:30pm but thought they were going to be more Braxton-Hicks so went to bed! I woke up at 1:30am and realised I was in labour. I got up and wandered around for a bit focusing on my forest (a visualisation that India was so familiar with from her practice) during contractions. I even made some mince pies in between! I woke up Matt at 6am and put in my tens machine to help deal with the contractions. As I thought I would be in labour for days I hadn’t woken him up earlier! We used some of the affirmations from our classes during the contractions – “my contractions cannot be stronger than me as they are me” and “I trust my body I trust my baby”. We decided to go in to hospital and when we arrived at 2:30pm I was 9cm dilated and got straight in the pool. It was the most relaxing, calming, lovely thing ever! My waters broke after 10 min in the pool and I started on gas and air at that point.
It sounds so silly and I always doubted it during pregnancy but my body knew what to do!
Ada Warren Sampson arrived at 3:33pm on Christmas Day and was 6lb 7oz. She started feeding straight away and hasn’t stopped! She is the most beautiful thing in the world!
Thank you so much for giving me the confidence in my body to let it do what it was made to! I had total belief that everything would go as it needed too to safely bring my baby into the world!!!! I was so lucky to have the relaxed water birth experience I had hoped for, and having the relaxation techniques we worked enabled me to enjoy it!
