Happy World Hypnobirthing Day!
The 21st March 2019 is World Hypnobirthing Day and so we thought it was only right that we shared with you what makes this special to us. This is something that we could go on about forever, so we have tried to keep it short and sweet and just highlight a few points!
There’s a day for everything now isn’t there?! World sausage day and world doughnut day amongst some of the important ones 😉 World Book Day is definitely a worthy one, although I could do without the pressure for a knock out costume for my children. But one of the most important to me is World Hypnobirthing Day. A day to raise awareness of just how incredible and life changing Hypnobirthing techniques can be to women and their families. How a woman births her baby is not important but how she feels about it certainly is. How she feels about it can impact her mental health and can influence her relationship with her baby, her partner and other loved ones. Women have been conditioned to believe that Birth is something to fear, something that will cause unimaginable pain. Women have been conditioned to believe that we are weak, weaker than the male of our species. Well, Hypnobirthing will turn all that on it’s head and tell you the truth about just how strong women are and how clever our bodies are. And it’s all science so you can’t argue with it! Hypnobirthing techniques can be put to very good use in other areas of life such as medical/dental procedures, sporting events, academic exams and just general stressy life stuff! Hypnobirthing is not just for birth, it’s for life!
Happy World Hypnobirthing Day!
Hypnobirthing is hugely important to me for so many reasons – yes because it is part of my business and I love it, but the reasons extend so much further beyond this. Hypnobirthing is important to me because it really makes a difference. It made a huge difference to me and it makes a huge difference to the parents that I have the pleasure of working with. It helps women and their birth partners to feel calm and positive about one of the most important events in their lives. It helps them to feel connected, in control, informed and empowered – and who doesn’t want that for their birth??
The techniques work for ALL births and you are prepared for how to use the tools in various situations that may occur in labour – this isn’t just about pain-free, drug-free, home water births! This is for any birth – the emergency caesarean birth, the assisted birth, the induction, the water birth, the home birth etc. Hypnobirthing is also important to be because of the benefits for the whole family and I want everyone to know about it!
Hypnobirthing taught me to trust my instincts and have confidence and faith in myself. It made such a change in me that it was inevitable that one day I would share this with other women – and I feel so privileged to be able to do so.
It sounds a bit cliché to say this but hypnobirthing really is about learning skills for life – it isn’t just for the birth. The positive mindset, the breathing and relaxation techniques really do help in all aspects of life. It is life changing!
I’ve also met some incredible people through this job and look forward to sharing hypnobirthing with many more people in the years to come!
